Neuroscience Experience

Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA

Research Scientist under the mentorship of Earl K. Miller, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral associate

Investigating neuronal mechanisms of cognitive flexibility in monkeys trained to dynamically reallocate the meaning of visual images depending on a behavioral goal.

  • Designed and implemented two projects in which monkeys categorized images based on rules, and divided images into hierarchical groups according to a cue.
  • Recorded activity of multiple neurons in two brain regions (prefrontal and inferior temporal cortices) simultaneously using extracellular electrodes.
  • Analyzed complex neuronal signals and behavior with custom Matlab scripts.

Associate Lab Director (2013-present)

  • Ensure budgetary compliance per MIT and NIH, NSF, and Industry guidelines
  • Manage grant applications and progress reports

McGill University Department of Physiology, Montréal, QC, Canada

Ph.D. student under the mentorship of Kathleen E. Cullen, Ph.D.

Investigated neuronal mechanisms involved in the control of the vestibuloocular reflex and vestibulocollic reflex in the alert behaving monkey.

  • Designed and implemented studies in which animals generated specific eye movements, combined eye/head movements, and eye/head/body movements by turning a steering wheel that controlled the turntable rotation.
  • Recorded activity of single brainstem neurons using extracellular electrodes.
  • Analyzed complex neuronal signals and behavior with custom Matlab scripts.

Technical Consulting and Freelancing

Muddled Mind Consulting, LLC., Cambridge, MA, USA

Founder and principal consultant (2013-present)

  • Provided neuroscience technical consulting services to companies ranging from medical device to corporate training firms
  • Scope of work included writing whitepapers, data analysis, grant writing and editing, and educational content creation
